Ambulatory Transportation

Serving Baltimore County & Surrounding Counties

At United Care Link Transportation, our ambulatory transportation service is designed for passengers who can walk independently or need minimal assistance getting in and out of a vehicle.

Transportation That Supports Your Independence

Being able to walk doesn't always mean getting to an appointment or destination is easy. For some passengers, navigating parking lots, getting into a vehicle, or traveling longer distances can be challenging.

Our ambulatory transportation provides the support you need without taking away your independence. Our drivers offer appropriate assistance from your pickup location to your destination, helping make each part of the journey easier, safer, and more comfortable.

Whether you're heading to a routine doctor's appointment, specialist visit, therapy session, or another important destination, you can count on a transportation experience centered around your needs.

Passenger-Focused Service

Every passenger deserves to feel respected and supported. We take the time to understand individual needs and provide assistance accordingly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

Do I need to book my ride in advance?

Unlike Taxis/Cabs or rideshares, United Care Link Transportation is a dedicated Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) service, not an on-demand car service. To ensure your ride is safe, properly equipped, and staffed by the right team for your specific needs, ALL rides require a minimum of 24 hours advance notice.

Scheduling ahead allows us to confirm your vehicle type, assign a trained driver, and guarantee an on-time arrival, because your care is too important to leave to chance. We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for recurring appointments like dialysis, chemotherapy, or facility transfers.

Q:

Is United Care Link Transportation licensed and insured in Maryland?

Yes. United Care Link Transportation is a fully licensed and insured Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Provider operating in Maryland. All our vehicles are commercially insured, inspected, and maintained to meet Maryland NEMT standards. All our drivers are background-checked, CPR & PASS-certified, trained in medical readiness, and committed to assisting passengers with care, patience, and professionalism.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

What is the difference between United Care Link Transportation and an Ambulance?

An ambulance provides emergency medical care and transport for life-threatening situations, it is staffed by paramedics or EMTs and responds to 911 calls. United Care Link Transportation is a non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) service; we transport patients to and from scheduled medical appointments when they are medically stable but physically unable to drive, use public transit, or manage rideshare services on their own. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. For scheduled appointments, dialysis, chemotherapy, and specialist visits, call United Care Link Transportation at (866) 254-8885

Q:

What makes United Care Link Transportation different from Uber, Lyft, or MetroAccess?

Uber and Lyft are general rideshare services; their drivers are not trained for medical transport, cannot assist patients with walkers or wheelchairs, do not enter the home, and have no accountability for medical appointment scheduling. MetroAccess is a shared paratransit service that is routinely unreliable for recurring medical appointments like dialysis. United Care Link Transportation provides dedicated rides with trained drivers who walk to the front door, assist with steps and walkers, handle wheelchairs and stretchers, escort patients to the check-in desk, and wait for the return ride.
